2nd Place: First 2nd place finish by a team sport in OTHS history. Defeated Lockport on a last second shot by Mike Malat to catapult the Panthers into the Final Four. In the Final Four, Kenny Leverette (2nd Team All-Tourney) and
Brad Copelin (1st Team All Tourney) took over as the Panthers defeated Lincolnshire (Stevenson) 65-51 to advance to the IHSA Class AA State Championship in the 100th year of IHSA basketball. It was also the last year of the two class system. OTHS took on reigning state champs
Chicago Simeon, who went down as one of the best teams in the history of IHSA basketball. Simeon had point guard Derrick Rose, who the next year carried Memphis University to the National Title as a freshman. 2 years later he won NBA Rookie of the Year and in 2010 he was an NBA All-Star.
The Panthers held Rose in check with tight defense but it wasn't enough as Simeon won the game 77-54 giving the Panthers the 2nd place trophy. |

| 2009-10 |
The Panthers returned to the state tournament for the second time in four years after compiling a 30-2 record and winning their first ever SWC conference championship.
Led by Junior Roosevelt Jones, who became the 4th Panther to score over 600 points in a season, OTHS won the Class 4A Super-Sectional in an overtime battle against Joliet Township. Junior Charles Joy
slammed home the victory with an overtime dunk as time was winding down to give OTHS a 3 point victory. The Super-Sectional is what used to the first round of the state tournament and the victory punched the Panthers ticket to Peoria guranteeing them a state trophy. The semi-final game
will be a rematch of the 2007 state championship game as OTHS will take on Chicago Simeon. |
