3/29/09 Sophomore Roosevelt Jones (#21) received first team All-SWC honors. Jones was one of the leading scorers for the Panthers and gave the fans a glimpse of what will be an exciting next two years of Panther basketball. Senior Malcolm Hudson (#23) ended his solid career with All-SWC honors as well. Hudson leaves the Panthers as the last member of the Elite 8 and State Finals team. Congrats to both!
Kenny Leverette, who led the Panthers to back to back Elite 8 appearances including a state championship appearance against the NBA Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose, has received NJCAA Honorable Mention All American honors.
Kenny Leverette was named Region 24 Freshman of the Year after averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Mike Malat was named 2nd Team All-GRAC. SWIC is preparing for the first round of the NJCAA National Tournament next Tuesday in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Senior Chris Kellerman broke his foot during the seventh game of the season and will miss the remainder of the season. He will medically redshirt and have another year with CMU. Chris scored a career high 28 points against Princeton this year.
McKendree ended its 21-game winning streak as they lost to Columbia College in the AMC Conference Championship game. The Bearcats head into the National Tourney with an impressive 28-5 record.
